University of Colorado Hospital, Aurora, Colorado, is proud to offer the Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) hybrid course. ATCN is an advanced course designed for the registered nurse interested in increasing their knowledge in management of the multiple trauma patient. This course is taught concurrently with ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support). The nurse participants audit the ATLS lectures. During the ATLS skill and testing stations, the nurses are separated from the physician group and directed through ATCN skill stations.
ATCN skill stations include: Initial assessment and management. Airway and ventilator management. Pediatric trauma. Hemorrhagic shock. Musculoskeletal and spinal trauma. Head trauma.
Students choosing to take this hybrid course will be required to complete the full complement of online mATLS learning modules. After successful completion of the mATLS modules, the student must then complete the ATCN skill stations, skill tests and written examination in a classroom setting. The classroom portion of this hybrid course is one full day. In addition, a Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) needs to have been taken at least once.
You will be granted access to the American College of Surgeons mATLS application wherein you must complete 13 online modules and a pretest prior to your in-person skill training and testing. Each module takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete. You also will have access to the online manuals and will receive hard copies of both the ATCN and ATLS manuals mailed to you prior to the course.
The Society of Trauma Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Centers Commission on Accreditation. The ATCN hybrid course has been awarded 19 contact hours.

Cancellation Policy The deadline to cancel is 30 days prior to the course date and will result in a refund minus $175 to cover the cost of the manuals. No refund will be provided after the 30-day deadline.
