Date and time: Both Wednesdays, October 21 from 6-8 p.m. and October 28 from 6-8 p.m.

This class serves all the north region hospitals - Poudre Valley Hospital (Fort Collins), Medical Center of the Rockies (Loveland) and Greeley Hospital.

Hands-On Baby Care and Safety

Take this fun, interactive course to boost your confidence and knowledge, and to help you navigate your new parent role.

Night one will focus on infant development and caring for your newborn. Topics covered include newborn traits and behaviors, feeding basics, baby cues, and hygiene. We will help you understand why babies cry and how to comfort them. You will practice diapering and swaddling. Tips on adjusting to parenthood and emotions in postpartum will also be discussed.

Night two will focus on newborn safety. You will practice infant choking response and administering infant CPR. Car seat installation and infant fit/harnessing will be reviewed and practiced with a doll so your newborn travels safely. Seat belt use during pregnancy will be addressed so moms travel safely as well! We will finish the night with infant safe sleep education.

Please note: This class does not teach breastfeeding techniques/training or provide CPR certification. For breastfeeding education, please sign up for our Breastfeeding Basics class.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water/snacks with you to class. You will need to bring your infant car seat to class on night two.

Registration covers birthing person and one support person. If you have Medicaid or CHP+ please contact the office at 970.495.7500 to register and receive a discount.

You will receive a reminder email from the website a before class begins with information and a car seat form to complete prior to the first class. Please check to make sure you have received the email- they may land in junk or clutter folders.
