Wednesday, February 18 from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, February 25 from 6-8 p.m.
Hands-On Baby Care and Safety Take this fun, interactive course to boost your confidence and knowledge, and to help you navigate your new parent role. Night one will focus on infant development and caring for your newborn. Topics will include newborn traits and behaviors. Feeding basics, baby cues and hygiene will be addressed. We will help you understand why babies cry and how to comfort them. You will practice diapering and swaddling. Tips on adjusting to parenthood and emotions in postpartum will also be discussed.
Night two will focus on newborn safety. You will learn how to help a choking infant and perform infant CPR. Car seat education, infant fit/harnessing and car installation will be reviewed and practiced with a doll so your newborn travels safely. Seat belt use during pregnancy will be addressed so moms travel safely as well! We will finish the night with infant safe sleep education. Please note: This class does not teach breastfeeding techniques/training or provide CPR certification. For breastfeeding education, please sign up for our Breastfeeding Basics class.
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water/snacks with you to class. On night two, please bring your infant car seat to class.
Fee includes one support person for this class.
You will receive a reminder email from our office (not the website reminder) a few days before class begins with class information and a car seat form. Please complete car seat form using the QR code in the reminder email prior to first class.

If you or your support person are feeling ill, please do not attend the class. Let us know as soon as possible (970.495.7500) and we will try to move you into another class or refund you. Please review current health screenings for our classes below. * Have you or your support person been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 10 days? Reschedule please. * In the last 10 days, have you or your support person have been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 or is suspected to have COVID-19? If so, but are having no symptoms, you are welcome to attend class, but please wear masks as a precaution for others in the class. * Have you had cold or flu-like symptoms including cough, fever or shortness of breath in the last 72 hours? Reschedule please.
