Learners will be able to describe/demonstrate the various live examination skills education provided by this course, be able to describe care of the intimate partner violence patients, and identify methods to incorporate this practice in their role as Sexual Assault Forensic/Nurse Examiner

This hybrid course is designed to prepare SANEs and Advanced Practice RNs to enhance their forensic nursing practice by learning how to perform assessments specifically for IPV patients. After completing the didactic modules, participants will practice with a live model to obtain a history, conduct a detailed physical assessment, document photographs, collect evidence, and consider safety aspects.
Pre-Couse Online: includes 16 hours of enduring education through ULearn, which must be completed by August 30, 2026, to be eligible to attend the live portion.
Live Session: includes 8-hours in-person (address provided upon completion of the enduring education) skills lab on September 12, 2026. To be eligible to participate, you must hold an unencumbered RN or advanced practice licensure. You must have completed a didactic portion of SANE education and be able to provide a certificate of completion and finish the online education before attending the live course.
